Le Due Porte Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

This wine is produced with grapes from our vineyard Le Due Porte which surrounds the cellar at 540 metres above sea level. This wine maintains the typical structure of a Brunello vecchio stampo and epitomizes finesse and elegance. Vinified to take advantage of its notable tannins and acidity to evolve beautifully over the next decade and beyond, it is juicy and complex. With only a few vintages in the bottle so far, this special wine is elegant and distinguished and drinks well in its youth, while promising to age beautifully.

TOTAL PRODUCTION

Bottle production is currently capped at 2500 750 ml bottles, depending on vintage.

GRAPES

100% Sangiovese

HARVEST

Traditionally the second week of October. Often Le Due Porte, our highest elevation vineyard is picked 1-2 weeks after the Castelnuovo dell’Abate vineyards. The grapes are picked by hand using small crates.

YIELD PER HECTARE

The maximum yield allowed for the production of Brunello is 8.000-7.000 kg per hectare, however due to our rigorous selection process, we rarely reach that yiel.

AGING

Le Due Porte spends about a year more in the aging room than the vintage Brunello. Current DOCG regulations specify a minimum of two years in wood. We use large Slavonian oak barrels.

VINEYARDS

The grapes used to produce this wine come from our vineyard Le Due Porte.

GROWTH SYSTEM

Balanced single spur cordon and Guyot.

VINIFICATION

Long maceration in contact with the marcs with pumpovers as needed. Maximum temperature 25-28° C. Fermentation in large wood casks or cement.

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

Brunello di Montalcino is made exclusively from 100% Sangiovese grapes, a varietal bred specifically for its ability to age long and well. Typically deep garnet in color with aromas of red fruit, chocolate, violet, herbs and earthiness, the Il Palazzone Brunellos are full-bodied with ABV around 13.5-14.5%. The strong smooth tannins and ripe fruit balance juicy acidity to deliver a perfect wine for food pairing, whether drinking young or after some aging.

Rosso, Grappa & EVOO

In addition to our DOCG wines, we also produce Rosso di Palazzone, Grappa and EVOO. Our Rosso di Palazzone, blended with mixed vintages of declassified Brunello, showcases fruit, freshness and approachability similar to a Rosso di Montalcino. Our grappa is created by Master Distiller Priscilla Occhipinti at Distilleria Nannoni. Our EVOO is pressed from our own trees, harvested by hand after the end of the grape harvest.
