We are on the north west slopes of Montalcino, less than 1km from the town center. On arrival in Montalcino there is a roundabout with a mosaic on it just below the medieval Fortress. Drive around the roundabout and exit on the right in between the BAR TERRAZZE and the CARABINIERI police station. The road is marked Via del Poggiolo. Follow this road past a new block of flats and the cemetery. It becomes a “white road”: a bumpy dirt track.

Do not take the first right turn.

Keep driving and follow the black and yellow signs that say IL PALAZZONE VENDITA DIRETTA OLIO E VINO. After less than a km on the right there is a tall house.

Do not enter their drive-way.

When the road splits, do not bear left.

Turn off to the right (you will see the estate mail box on your left and an arch on your right), and keep driving downhill. There is wooden sign that says VENDITA DIRETTA. Keep left and drive down the cypress-lined avenue to the cellar.

Do not go through the second gate.

From the A1 highway Autostrada del Sole exit at Firenze Certosa and follow signs for Siena on the “raccordo”, a four-lane (dual carriageway) highway. Exit at Siena Sud and from there follow signs for Montalcino and Rome on the Cassia road (SR 2 – formerly the SS2). You will pass a series of small hamlets and villages.
